Nomination Rules

Who can apply

Any PDU member seeking nomination for parliamentary, county, or other elective office must hold a valid Gold membership card, a national ID or valid registration as an elector, and must pay the applicable non-refundable nomination fee before an application is considered. A Gold membership card is a precondition for nomination - ordinary membership alone does not qualify a member to vie.

How candidates are selected

Where more than one member applies for the same position, an election is held among registered PDU members and electors in that area, overseen by the Branch Nomination Board under the direction of the National Nominations Committee.

Direct nomination: where only one member applies for a position without opposition, that member is declared the party candidate directly, subject to approval by the National Executive Council, rather than through a competitive primary.

After you apply

Applications are reviewed by the National Nominations Committee and relevant Branch Nomination Board. Successful candidates are issued a party nomination certificate. Any member dissatisfied with a nomination outcome may appeal to the National Nomination Committee within three days of the result being declared, and further to the PDU Appeals Tribunal if unresolved.
